The Jacketing Ceremony commenced at 2:40 pm with an opening prayer by Mr. Theophilus Sarpong and a word of exhortation by Mr. Harvey under the theme: “The role of the Holy Spirit in our lives”. The latter encouraged faculty and students to seek the discernment of the Holy Spirit in all their endeavors.

JACKETING

Jacketing which signifies the ushering in of a new breed of student leaders and transitioning them into authority was concurrently done with the Investiture of New Prefects popularly known as badging or pinning of prefects. 36 DP1 students were jacketed and spontaneously assumed the title whereas 22 student prefects were inducted into office.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. D highlighted the biblical significance of jacketing by quoting Aaron’s call to priesthood and the mantle given to him as a cloak of authority. “Therefore as Christians, our call to leadership is to better equip us to lead the flock entrusted in our care in the precepts of God by commissioning them into God’s light,” she said.

She reiterated to the student body that it is prudent to accord the prefects the utmost respect stating that the prefects are the highest student representatives of truth and knowledge in AIS.

22 DP1 students were inducted into office, key among which were the SRC President Miss Amani-Amina Iddrisu, the Head Boy Master Bryan Acheampong, and the Head Girl Miss Vera Fayorsey – Deku.

A panel comprising of 7 facilitators was commended for the time, resources, and knowledge imparted to the newly inducted prefects during the grooming stage, which has nurtured and braced them to assume their leadership roles.

The newly inducted prefects were charged to be ambassadors of AIS and uphold the core values of the school. Subsequently, the entire student body and faculty prayed concurrently for MYP5 and DP2 preparing to sit for their external examination.

Mrs. D announced a few changes in the usual morning routine or schedule which was to take effect on Tuesday 25th April 2023 and the ceremony ended at 3:50 pm with Mrs. Jacqui Borteye offering the benediction.
