Early Years (Pre-K to KG)

The Early Years program at Association International School is designed for children from 1 to 6 years old. Children can grow holistically when they are nurtured with a healthy school atmosphere, play-based learning, and hands-on experiences. With a dedicated campus to serve the requirements of young children, Association International School is committed to providing the best learning opportunities through a variety of events held all year long.

Pre-Kindergarten (1—3yrs)

The Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) program at AIS seeks to help students develop pride and confidence in themselves and their abilities. Our program focuses on developing a strong academic foundation, developing the skills for critical thinking, personal responsibility, and time management. We encourage social and emotional growth in a Christian environment with supportive and loving teaching staff.

Pre-K Curriculum

Our learning approach meets the needs of young children by providing for and fostering their sense of wonder and curiosity. Our children are encouraged to investigate and interact at their speed and developmental level. Children are encouraged to listen, re-tell stories, and are introduced to pre-reading skills such as identifying capital letters and sounds, recognizing their first and last names, and more.

Pre-K uses the DLM (Developmental Learning Materials) to study language arts, math, science, and social studies, all integrated into units of study through literature, learning centers, games, stories, nursery rhymes, and reading. Children visit the library, art, and music rooms. Science and social studies are integrated through discussions, songs, puppets, and stories about weather, seasons, people, and animals.

Calendar time introduces the children to number knowledge, time, patterns, and problem-solving. Exploration with manipulatives allows children to learn concepts such as shapes, sequencing, and comparisons. The children receive French instruction from our French teacher through games and hands-on activities. Children will listen, speak, sing, and move to gain an appreciation of the French language. Students in Pre-K attend chapel and assembly twice a week.

Junior Kindergarten

The Junior Kindergarten (Jnr. KG) curriculum includes listening, speaking, and writing activities to develop a child’s skill set. We use the Oxford Reading program based on sound research aligned with critical Junior-K learning goals. Essential components of this are an integrated curriculum, standards-based instruction, age-appropriate activities with a balance of exploration and preparation, a focus on literacy, and an emphasis on family involvement. Through literature, learning center games, stories, poetry, and informational reading, the children develop their language skills. Pre-handwriting skills are a focus through the D’ Nealian Handwriting program. Teachers work with this program for ease of developmental transition to handwriting skills in kindergarten.

Earlybird Kindergarten Mathematics is a comprehensive, activity-based program that uses the pedagogical principles of the Singapore Maths approach to help students build a strong foundation in mathematics through fun-filled lessons and activities. This program provides students with essential mathematical facts and concepts and provides a sound foundation for using Singapore Math strategies in later years. Science and social studies help enhance the child’s knowledge of the world outside of their direct experiences. Units on transportation, communities, holidays, animals, and family structures enrich the curriculum.

Our students attend music, art, library, physical education, and computer classes with full-time faculty. They learn the French language through familiar songs, stories, and physical activities in the classroom. Students attend assembly and chapel twice a week and actively participate through storytelling, songs, and prayer.
