We are so proud of our budding female engineers for placing 3rd in the International Engineering Competition for Schools.
The event was organized by the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham on Saturday 11th March 2023 at Ghana International School.
Dayspring International Academy and Aburi Girls Senior High School were 1st and 2nd respectively. The 8 participating schools included:
- Aburi Girls Senior High School,
- Association International School,
- Dayspring International Academy,
- Delhi Public School,
- Ghana International School,
- International Community School (Accra & Kumasi),
- SOS Hermann-Gmeiner International College,
- Tema International School.
Each team was tasked to design a practical model bridge that would cross a 50cm gap. They had to use a limited number of sustainable materials (plywood, wood strips, glue and thread).
The judges assessed each entry based on the following criteria:
- the weight of the bridge
- students’ application of theories shared during two pre-competition webinars delivered by Dr. Luis Neves
- the weight the model bridge can carry
- teamwork
- creativity and attractiveness
We commend our students for their effort, ingenuity, and commitment during the competition. Their dedication and hard work paid off and we couldn’t be prouder.
